Bjorn Seligsson’s Diary - 3

The battle against it did not end.
Even with the aid of the thunder dragon,
a pair of celestial horses, and a wise paladin,
we could not bring about its destruction.

The celestial horses, determined not to let it escape,
shrouded the island in an unending winter night.
The black pegasus melted into the night and vanished.
This land became still, unseen, and leaving the island became impossible.

The paladin, ashamed of his failure,
split himself in two, vowing to never show mercy again.

The dragon vanished into the skies beyond the clouds, disappearing from sight.
In hindsight, perhaps it has now returned because it has sensed the coming of that day.

And now, here we are.
It still slumbers.

Do I guard this land
truly for the sake of duty?
Nay.

No matter the pretense, I cannot hide it.
Perhaps I simply wish to meet a worthy foe.
